Debate is always "ON" between these three giants PC (Windows OS) or MAC (Apple OS) or LINUX (Open Source OS). My favourites among them are none. Wondering why? I prefer to Google Operating System instead. I know it's not yet released and even it is not yet sure whether Google working secretly in developing their own OS.
Couple of years before, I got a forwarded E-mail message from one of my friend which has the attachment of Google OS desktop image quoting "will be launched in 2010", but certainly no news about that later. Either no one from Google has revealed anything on that yet, no official web page found on internet other than some blog entries. Alright, now going little back, whether it's PC/Mac/Linux, so for Microsoft leads in the market. I think, the main advantage with the Microsoft is, its compatibility. Any one can assemble PC parts on their own with little computer knowledge and install the software for it too. Whereas, its not as easy for either Mac or Linux user to install operating system on their computer without computing knowledge. But others OS are best on their own. Such as, Mac is best for Entertainment users and LINUX is said to be completely virus free OS which can be worth using it for as server OS to maintain many client systems.
As a programmer and as a web developer, I doubt how effective Apple or Linux OS will be. If someone going to be a Java programmer, then it is easy for them to move into other OS because it works as same as it is in every other operating system. But for the people like me, programming in .Net (which is much more simple and time consuming to program than JAVA) windows seems to be a reliable operating system. Yes, the latest version of the .Net will work in LINUX as well but certainly not as good as it is in windows because the IDE for Linux has not developed by Microsoft. To my knowledge, Apple, the fastest operating system in the world, is not fit for programming but certainly very good for the people who are not I.T. guys. The latest version of Apple Air, is really rocks. Cheap and best Linux is virus free but not much friendly to users. Windows friendly but not virus/bug free operating system. Google is the giant in web world. Even if Microsoft buy Yahoo, I don't think, they can beat Google. So, if the news about Google OS was true, then I really hope that Google OS will provide where all the applications can be run (like windows) as fast as it is (like Apple), with no bugs or virus in it (like Linux). If Google going to realise their operating system in 2010, then my favorite would be GOS (Google Operating System).
